Meet Your Food Service Director

Meet Your Food Service Director

Maureen O'Neil

I really can’t remember a time in my life that I was not involved in the food industry in one form or another. I was 14 when I had my first dishwashing job - which then led to waitressing, bartending, catering, cooking, management, and eventually ownership. I successfully owned my restaurant Alldays & Onions, in Bennington VT for over 20 years.

I went to Keene State College with a major in education and children's drama. I wanted to teach teachers the use of drama. So it’s no surprise that I am now in school food service. I am passionate about nutrition and the health of our children and feel blessed that I can be part of a company with the same goals and agenda for our communities.

I live on a mountain, on a lake, and in my free time I enjoy everything that home life offers in all seasons. I have a Siberian Husky - Shadow, who is my constant outdoor companion.

I started my school nutrition career with The Abbey Group in 2007 - working in the kitchen of the elementary school my boys went to. Like many of us, I chose this path so I could be there for my children, working when they were in school, having the same holidays and summers off. I soon learned that school nutrition was a passion of mine and continued on by being promoted to Kitchen Manager, Assistant Director and then, upon earning my School Nutrition Specialist Certification, I was promoted to Director. My work is making a positive impact on the children of our community and this is very important to me.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family - my husband, two sons AND two dogs - who we love spoiling. We enjoy boating and lake life in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. And, when we can, we love to travel - especially to exotic islands.
